In the world of mathematics, Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th. Because GR was on spring break on that day, GR 7th graders prepared for Pi Day and celebrated it for many days prior to spring break. Mrs. Rowe and Mrs. Kiburis had many activities and learning opportunities planned for the week as we investigated circles, Pi, and math in the kitchen. The final activity of the unit was to make Pi Pie. One class followed a tradtional recipe while the other class made a low-fat, low-sugar version. They shared pies so each student tasted both versions. The students figured the price to make each pie along with finding the fat & calorie differences for each version. Enjoy the pictures of making and showing off our Pi Pies.
